One evening, on a foggy country road, 34-year-old Kyle picks up a mysterious, hauntingly beautiful stranger. Without elaborating, the young woman confesses that she has come a long way and that her presence here is accidental. Fascinated by her aura, Kyle politely offers to let her stay the night at his place; the woman accepts after a brief hesitation. The next day, Kyle wakes up alone. He realizes he has fallen deeply in love with her and tries in vain to find her. A few days later, Kyle is wrongly accused of a double murder that took place near his home. He is eventually released and learns that the victims were attacked by an unidentified wild animal. As the days pass, the mysterious young woman reappears one stormy evening. She tells Kyle that he is linked to the murder and that the wild animal is in fact the Chimera; the creature from the novel he has just finished writing.
